Introduction to Video Fingerprinting¶
The Video Fingerprinting SDK provides powerful tools to accurately compare video files using advanced fingerprinting technology. This approach analyzes video frames and audio samples to generate unique signatures that represent the content. These signatures can then be compared to determine similarity between different video files.

Video fingerprinting works by extracting distinctive features from video frames and audio samples, creating a compact representation that can be efficiently stored and compared. This technique is particularly useful for:

Implementing Video Comparison in .NET¶
Creating Fingerprints for the First Video¶
The first step is to generate a fingerprint for your initial video file. The following code demonstrates how to create a source using the DirectShow engine and limit analysis to the first 5 seconds:

Generating Fingerprints for the Second Video¶
Similarly, we need to create a fingerprint for the second video file to enable comparison:

Comparing the Video Fingerprints¶
Once both fingerprints are generated, you can compare them to determine the similarity between the videos:

Optimizing the Comparison Process¶
Storing Fingerprints for Repeated Use¶
To improve efficiency, you can save fingerprints to binary files for future use without needing to re-analyze the videos:

Storage Requirements and Database Integration¶
Fingerprint files are compact, requiring approximately 250 KB of disk space per minute of video. For applications that need to store and compare many fingerprints, MongoDB integration is available through the SDK extensions.
